Jamaica’s Olympic stars unveil new Puma kit

Sports brand Puma picked a youth athletics event in Kingston on March 23 as its platform for revealing the apparel that the Jamaican team will wear at 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Track-and-field athletes from Jamaica will wear the new kit at the games, which take place in the French capital from July 26 to August 11.

Technical details include jacquard fabric that is ergonomically shaped to contour the back muscles for heat reduction and breathability. The garments also have proprietary technology for regulating body temperature.

Athletes who showed off the new kit at the March 23 event included reigning Olympic 100-metre, 200-metre and 100-metre relay champion, Elaine Thompson-Herah, and one of her fellow relay gold-medallists, Shericka Jackson. Men’s 110-metre hurdles champion, Hansle Parchment, also took part in the presentation event, as did triple-jumper Shanieka Ricketts (pictured).

Puma’s chief product officer, María Valdes, commented: “What makes these kits special is how closely they have been created in collaboration with our athletes. We hope that they become a symbol of pride for Jamaicans this summer and long into the future.”
