Sports group Nike has launched a skateboarding shoe, Day One, that it says is the first shoe for skateboarding enthusiasts designed specifically for children.

Design elements include a cupsole construction that aims to be stable and supportive of young feet. Nike said it had also removed “excess foam” to reduce the shoe’s weight, but to help with cushioning on big-impact tricks, the shoe also features a Zoom Air unit in the heel.

The upper features a combination of suede overlays and mesh panelling to help with durability, while still keeping the shoe breathable.
