Columbia Sportswear’s Mountain Hardwear brand has used three-layer Pertex Shield fabric with Endurance Technology in a new jacket for women, the Premonition UL.

Pertex developed the fabric from 100% recycled nylon; it has also used proprietary durable water repellency technology called Endurance.

On launching the new jacket, Mountain Hardwear spoke highly of the ability of Pertex Shield to protect wearers from the elements while remaining “slight on the scale and in your pack”.

It said hikers and climbers would be able to deploy the Premonition UL “at the drop of a hat when it’s time to take cover”.
