Solutions for a ‘sustainability transformation’ to go on show from Covestro
Polymer manufacturer Covestro has said it will use its presence at Techtextil 2024 to showcase raw material solutions for a more sustainable, more productive textile industry. The exhibition takes place in Frankfurt from April 23-26.
It said it intended to show how it can support the coated-textiles value chain in a “sustainability transformation”, breathable coatings for functional textiles from its Insqin range and partly biobased options made using apple waste.
It has described its Desmomelt U range of thermoplastic resins as a new class of aliphatic, non-yellowing polyurethane powders for adhesives and will demonstrate it at Techtextil in an automated 2D-printed hot melt application for shoe uppers. Covestro has said this can significantly reduce the number of processing steps in footwear production and make end-of-life disassembly of shoes easier.
Also on show will be film solutions from the company’s Platilon and Duraflex ranges in use in inflatable surfing kites and wings.
