Nylon production expansion in China is Nilit’s plan

Fibre developer Nilit has confirmed a new joint venture with Chinese nylon 6.6 producer Shenma Industry Co.

Together, they will set up a production facility at a new greenfield site at Pingdingshan in Henan province. Nilit said the new arrangement would mean a significant expansion of its overall production capacity in China.

At the new factory, the partners will produce fully drawn yarns and air textured yarns within what they have called “a highly competitive cost structure”. They aim to reach an annual production capacity of 20,000 tonnes there in the next few years.

Nilit already has a manufacturing operation in China, at Suzhou in Jiangsu province. It has said it will expand production there too to double capacity there, with its new partner, Shenma, taking a minority stake in that operation.
