NILIT publishes new impact report
17/06/2024
Across its four manufacturing facilities, located in Israel, Brazil, the United States and China, it has been able to reduce energy consumption by 46%, natural gas by 12%, water withdrawal by 11%, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 27%, compared to a first CSR report from 2017. The report states that its GHG emissions belong almost entirely (upwards of 99%) to Scope 2, for purchasing of electricity, thermal energy and steam and its Scope 1 emissions are almost entirely due to natural gas consumption in its Chinese plant.
Circularity drives all of the company’s innovation in processing and in its products, says Ilan Melamed, Nilit’s general manager. This led to the introduction of Sensil ByNature, whose feedstock is partially derived from biogas sourced from organic waste, through a certified Biomass Balance (BMB) system. The company recycles its own production waste to offer a recycled nylon Sensil EcoCare. More recently, it launched Sensil Flow, which goes one step further as it encourages monomaterial design to facilitate a product’s recycling when no longer worn or wearable.
