Nilit technology breaks nylon down quicker

Nylon 6.6 specialist Nilit has developed a nylon fibre enhanced with a technology that means the fibre breaks down quicker than conventional nylon.

The Israeli company says this will reduce the persistence of textile waste in sea water and in landfills when the garment reaches the end of its life.

Independent tests, simulating seawater and landfill soil environments, showed Sensil BioCare showed “remarkable disintegration”.

Ilan Melamed, Nilit’s general manager, said: “We provide consumers the same performance, comfort and durability they expect from Sensil premium nylon along with the peace of mind that they are making a positive choice for the planet.”

The technology will not wear or wash out or interfere with performance additives, finishes or dyes.
