Emissions reduction success for Vaude
Outdoor brand Vaude has announced a 30% reduction in its carbon footprint in 2023, compared to 2019, its baseline year for measuring its emissions. The company pointed out that, over the same timeframe, its revenues have increased by 32%.
Policies that Vaude said had helped it achieve its carbon footprint reduction include a preference for using renewable and recycled materials in its collections. Sustainability manager, Hilke Patzwall (pictured) said Vaude had worked hard with its supply chain partners to reduce emissions in the production of materials for its products.
It also said it had worked with suppliers to encourage them to move away from coal-fired boilers, replacing them with natural gas- or biomass-powered technology for use in heating water for fabric dyeing.
