Sorel senior team builds up
Parent group Columbia Sportswear has brought in Michael Minter as vice-president of its Sorel footwear brand.
Mr Minter has spent 20 years in senior creative and marketing leadership roles at footwear brands including Sanuk, Billabong, DC Shoes and Keen.
His appointment at Sorel comes as it prepares for what new brand president, Cory Long, has referred to as “a new chapter of growth”. Cory Long came to Sorel at the end of last year, replacing Mark Nenow as brand president.
Mr Nenow had stepped down from the role for health reasons in June 2023 after 15 years at the company. Although he kept a relatively low profile during his footwear career, Mark Nenow had come to the industry after a remarkable career in athletics.
In 1986 he set a US record for 10,000 metres at a race in Brussels with a time of 27:20.56. This record stood for 15 years.
