Sponsorship of distance-running events continues for Thinsulate
Materials developer 3M has expanded its sponsorship of prominent distance-running.
It has followed up its sponsorship of the 2024 Ultra-Trail Mount Yun series of races in China in April by sponsoring the 2024 Everest Marathon on May 29.
This event, known as the world’s highest marathon, saw elite athletes tackling the formidable terrain of Mount Everest.
Runners can choose from three race types: the full marathon, half marathon, and a 60-kilometre ultra-marathon.
Athletes start from the Everest Base Camp at 5,364 metres, then descend to Namche Bazaar at 3,440 metres, navigating steep inclines, rocky paths, and dramatic weather changes.
Thinsulate global portfolio director, Melissa Blakley, said: “We are excited to support these incredible athletes on one of the most challenging races in the world. Our technology is designed to provide the ultimate performance in cold weather, ensuring that the top runners are equipped with the best possible gear to help them succeed.”
