Speed shoe for trail-running from ASICS
Athletic footwear brand ASICS has launched a new shoe specifically for trail-running. The Metafuji trail shoe features a “trail-specific, full-length carbon plate, as well as high levels of cushioning and grip.
It developed the full-length carbon plate for trail running footwear, positioning it between two layers of foam to help stabilise the plate and ensure “energised forward propulsion without compromising on braking control on the downhill”.
A lightweight woven mesh with high durability is the main material in the upper.
Senior product marketing specialist, Magdalena Gassebner, said athlete testing had played a crucial role in the development of the new shoe. She paid particular tribute to Catalan runner Andreu Simón, saying he was someone who consistently shared innovative thinking on how to improve products.
“From removing bits and pieces of trail vests to make them even lighter to tailoring his own super shoe prototypes, he has never been short of new ideas,” she said. “His creative spark has led to the creation of our most innovative speed shoes for the trails, combining both cutting-edge design and our most advanced technologies.”
