Outerknown teams up with traceability platform Aware
Outerknown, a lifestyle and surfwear brand launched by pro surfer Kelly Slater and creative director John Moore, has chosen to offer full transparency and traceability for one of its key references, the Blanket Shirt. Part of the brand’s collections since it launched in 2015, it is made from organic cotton which is now tagged with a physical tracer developed by Dutch company Aware. A digital platform, stored on a blockchain, also keeps track of data on the shirt’s make.

Outerknown CEO Dylan Slater commented: “With Aware’s technology, we can provide our customers with complete transparency into the journey of the garment, empowering them to make informed choices that align with their values.”

The ethically produced shirt is sold online and in Outerknown’s eight retail stores in the United States.
