Sports group Puma has signed a letter of intent to secure access to substantial volumes of wood-based renewable fibres from Woodspin.

Finland-based fibre developer Spinnova set up Woodspin as a joint-venture company with Brazilian paper and pulp group Suzano in 2021.

Puma has committed to using the fibres for a number of years to for use in garments in its Sportstyle category.

“Spinnova’s innovative fibre technology represents a new gateway into the world of manmade cellulosic fibre (MMCF) production,” said Puma’s director for apparel innovation, Howard Williams.
