Spinnova’s new CCO to grow buying consortium
Cellulosic fibre producer Spinnova has appointed Mikko Lassila as chief commercial officer from UPM, where he has worked in leadership roles in sales and business development positions.
He said: “The technology has huge potential and a lot of great progress has been made. The pilot line and the demonstration plant in Jyväskylä are significant milestones and a solid base to build on.”
Based in Finland, Spinnova has developed a technology for making textile fibre out of wood pulp or waste, such as leather, textile, or agricultural cropping waste, without harmful chemicals. The company has recently launched an ‘ecosystem’ set-up: a consortium of buyers that work together to bring costs down.
CEO Janne Poranen said: “As we continue to build partnerships and Spinnova's ecosystem, Mikko’s dynamic leadership and execution-oriented mindset will play a key role in unlocking new opportunities for Spinnova.”
Alongside Mr Poranen and Mr Lassila, the management team consists of Santeri Heinonen, chief finance and people officer; Johanna Valkama, general counsel; Shahriare Mahmood, chief product and sustainability officer; and Juha Salmela, chief technology officer.
