Circulose joins Spinnova consortium

Recycled cotton pulp producer Circulose is the latest company to join a wide-ranging consortium of brands and industrial partners seeking to help Spinnova scale up production of its innovative cellulose-based fibre.

The two companies intend to use Circulose pulp as a feedstock to make Spinnova fibre, and thus avoid the chemicals used in the production of traditional man-made cellulosic fibres. They expect to be able to develop a fibre from 100% Circulose pulp, without requiring blending with virgin pulp. Trials have been underway since 2023, and confirm this possibility.

“This partnership allows Spinnova to secure valuable circular raw materials while supporting Circulose in expanding the use of its pulp into new, lower-impact fibres,” noted Spinnova CEO Janne Poranen.
