Professional pickleball league organisation Major League Pickleball (MLP) has announced advanced materials company Toray as a new sponsor.

A racket or paddle sport invented in the US in the 1960s, pickleball has had a professional players since the 2010s and a league, under MLP, since 2021.

“Through this initiative, we aim to contribute to the development of pickleball globally, supporting people’s health and wellbeing through sports,” said Toray chief executive, Mitsuo Ohya.

He explained that Toray also aims to enhance the recognition of its carbon fibre business in the US through this sponsorship programme.
