Field work delivers success for Hagihara and BASF

Japan-based synthetic fibre producer Hagihara Industries has worked with chemicals group BASF to develop highly durable polyolefin yarns for use in synthetic turn for sports.

After three years’ joint-work on the project, the two companies have now announced the range of yarns under the name Tinuvin.

Their claim is that the yarns will “significantly enhance the durability of synthetic grass, making it less susceptible to damage from sun exposure and ensuring it retains a vibrant colour”.

They have said Tinuvin can work in surfaces for football pitches, baseball fields and tennis courts.
