Jacket project redefines natural fibres in outerwear, Südwolle says
Wool and wool-blend yarn developer Südwolle has unveiled a new collection of down jackets that it claims “redefines how natural fibres can be used in outerwear”.
The Nuremberg-based group’s Südwebs Innovation Hub worked on this project with Biella-based dyeing, printing and finishing company Tintoria Finissaggio 2000 and designer Omar Bertona. “It brings together advanced textile engineering and visual expression, resulting in garments that combine comfort, technical function, and a distinctive design language,” it said.
Made from warp-knit wool and noble fibres including mohair, cashmere and silk, the jackets “combine a soft feel with visual depth”, Südwolle said. It also explained that 3D pigment printing, rarely used on wool, adds “sculptural texture”.
Inside, there is 100% recycled wool padding, instead of conventional fill, for natural insulation, breathability and texture.
