PFAS milestone for Mammut
Outdoor brand Mammut has celebrated a major milestone in its efforts to eliminate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from its products.
A recent review of the group’s performance in 2024 found that all of the sleeping bags in its spring-summer 2024 collection were PFAS-free.
For backpacks and bags, it said 99% were PFAS-free, with scores of 97% for accessories, 94% for apparel, 63% for climbing ropes and 39% for footwear.
Mammut said it had joined the campaign that non-profit organisation ChemSec has launched to advocate for a ban on PFAS in Europe.
It added that it is also working to educate consumers on how to care for PFAS-free products to maintain their performance levels and keep them in use for longer.
