Swiss running brand On has been working to keep the materials it uses in circulation, presenting a new step forward with Cloudrise Cyclon 1.1. The shoe’s Speedboard is now made from 99.5% recycled materials, derived from a combination of materials from post-consumer Cloudneo shoes returned by subscribers and leftover materials from the manufacturing process. The brand’s Cyclon shoes are available by subscription and made to be returned to On when no longer wearable, a system the brand introduced in 2022. 

The new Cloudrise Cyclon 1.1 has been produced in a limited run, to allow the company to gather insights and refine its processes. 

The launch is “a tangible demonstration of what’s possible when we connect products, business models, and operations in circular systems,” commented Serena Bonomi, circularity lead for On. “We’ve learned immensely throughout this process, from understanding consumer behaviour, collecting materials, required infrastructures and logistics, to recycling limitations and potentials.”
