Outdoor and sports e-commerce worth more than $50 billion in China
A specialist, Beijing-based e-commerce consulting firm, WPIC, has said online sales of outdoor and sporting goods in China reached nearly $56 billion in 2024. It said this was an increase of 20% compared to the previous year.
Within the wider outdoor and sports market, WPIC said Chinese online consumers spent $2.7 billion on outdoor jackets in 2024, an increase of 49% year on year.
Responding to these figures, an independent marketing consultant, Amber Wu, told the Wall Street Journal that more consumers in China now have the freedom and time to take part in outdoor activities and that this was boosting sales of high-value outdoor products.
