More than 70 exhibitors from 12 different countries took part in the Yarn Expo event in Shanghai (March 11-13), which runs concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai. Organiser, Messe Frankfurt, said this figure represented an increase of 9% compared to the spring edition of the exhibition in 2025.

The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council of India said 20 of its member companies were present. “Demand from China is interesting,” said joint director, Murali Balakrishna.

A strong domestic presence included polyester yarn producer Tongkun Group.

Japanese group Toray had a whole range of products on display, including five under a banner it called its premium ‘Gousen’ collection. Gousen is the Japanese word for synthetic fibre.

The products included Gigadull, which offers heat-shielding and UV protection functionality. Toray said the protection was “100-plus UPF”.

The Toray stand attracted particularly large crowds at the Shanghai event, with people queuing up to visit.
