A shoe to help runners move from road to trail, ASICS says
Sports group ASICS has unveiled a new trail-running footwear model, the Blazeblast. The company said the shoe is designed to bring “a fresh sense of energy, fun and versatility” to the trails.
The Japanese company said it had developed the new shoe for a new generation of trail-runners. It talked of making trail-running approachable and of using cushioning to make every trail run feel “more enjoyable, dynamic and accessible”.
At the core is the company’s FF Blast Max cushioning. This works alongside “a trampoline-pod construction” in the forefoot, designed to amplify the shoe’s bounce sensation and create a more energetic toe-off experience. Together, these technologies provide a comfortable and dynamic ride across a variety of trail terrains, ASICS said.
The shoe has an engineered woven upper for comfort and breathability, while a proprietary ASICSGRIP outsole with 2.5 millimetre lugs provides traction across theterrain.
These features, combined with a high-stack platform and lightweight construction, will help runners “move confidently from road-to-trail and beyond”, the company concluded.
Global product manager for performance running footwear, Magdalena Gassebner, said ASICS had spoken to consumers who said they loved “the bounce and fun” of the brand’s road-running shoes and wanted the same feeling on the trails. She said the Blazeblast was ASICS’s answer and described the launch as “an exciting opportunity to welcome a new generation of runners into the trail category”.
