Scarpa drops Aliens, teasing new product range
Ahead of the UTMB in Chamonix, Italian mountain footwear brand Scarpa is releasing limited quantities of two new trail running shoes that are part of its S/S 2027 collection. The Alien Ultra and Alien Sky share a same design philosophy and were developed in collaboration with Scarpa athletes.
Designed for vertical races and technical alpine terrain, the Alien Sky ultra trail runner is said to prioritise lightness, precision and fast response. It weighs 235g (½ pair, size 42), has a 26–20 mm stack, and a 20% glass fibre-reinforced nylon Adaptive Propulsion Plate in the forefoot.
The Alien Ultra is designed for long distances and alpine endurance events. Its construction is designed to offer more protection, it weighs 295g (½ pair, size 42), has a 38–32 mm stack height, and a full-length, 30% carbon fibre-reinforced Pebax Propulsion Plate. The branched forefoot and swallowtail heel structure are said to “maintain control and traction even across the most technical alpine terrain”.
Both references share a same dual-layer midsole (made from Super Critical Foam 100% Aliphatic-TPU), knitted upper with anti-debris gaiter and Vibram Megagrip outsole.
The Aliens are the first members of a new product family that Scarpa intends to grow over the coming seasons. The Alien Sky is sold €229,95 and the Alien Ultra €249,95.
