Unknown Runner features Nuyarn technology
For its new trail running range, Courser Collection, US-based Unknown Runner has chosen The Merino Company’s Nuyarn technology. The line is designed for hot conditions and is made from a 63% merino wool, 29% polyester and 8% nylon blend fabric, weighing 115 gsm, and having an open-knit structure to enhance temperature regulation and moisture management.
“Our technology is designed to unlock the natural potential of wool, and in a high-intensity sport like trail running, the benefits of 5x faster dry times and 8x more durability are game-changers for the athlete,” commented Monica Ebert, Nuyarn’s VP of sales.
TMC, based in New Zealand, has developed a solution that improves on traditional merino wool/polyester yarns. Instead of the conventional twisting of yarn during spinning, it has designed machinery that ‘drafts’ merino fibres around a nylon filament to create a wool yarn that has more volume and air. Combined with polyester knitting, in Unknown Runner’s version, the result is an ultralight fabric that breathes exceptionally well, dries quickly, and maintains performance through repeated use in demanding conditions, the company said.
