Merino wool featured in Anta performance range
International wool promotion body Woolmark sees growth in merino wool uptake among Chinese activewear brands. It cites a newly launched 100% merino trail running collection by Anta Guanjun, a premium sub-brand of the Chinese group.

Xiaofei Lin, general manager of the range, completed a Woolmark+ Fellowship last year which brought her to visit merino wool producing areas in Australia. “I was deeply impressed by the natural properties of Australian Merino wool - its combined features of moisture absorption, temperature regulation and anti-odour capabilities are highly aligned with our positioning of creating professional equipment for elite outdoor scenarios,” she commented.

Woolmark has reported an increase in demand for wool in China in a white paper on consumer trends for 2025, co-written with the Tmall Innovation Center. Merino wool apparel sales in China rose 18% year-on-year in the 12 months to July 2025. The fastest growing market segment is wool sportswear the report found, with an increase of 58% in gross merchandise value during the period and merino wool sportswear products recording a 119% hike. This upward turn is said to be driven by millennial consumers, particularly in Tier 1 and emerging Tier 1 cities.
