Adidas focuses on combat sports at ispo
Adidas has unveiled its latest innovations in combat sports at ispo 2007 in
Officially launched last December, the adidas Boxing Equipment range is the result of two years of development and includes known adidas technologies such as ClimaCool as well as some totally new innovations.
Soft Punch Technology is a thin layer of gel inside a moulded foam structure which is said to provide reinforced protection for the metacarpus, reducing the risk of hand injuries and repetitive strain injuries during training sessions.
Aero Punch Technology includes a moulded foam structure which is said to better distribute shock waves and therefore reduce the risk of RSI.
Strap up Technic is a new system for fitting boxing gloves that uses Velcro for more rapid and precise adjustments.
The new range also has a ‘Lady’ line for female boxers and fitness enthusiasts and a children’s line for physical education.
Adidas has also launched a new ‘2 in 1’ kimono, designed for growing children.
According to adidas, parents often buy their children kimonos that are two sizes larger in order to avoid outgrowing them too quickly, but this leads to children wearing baggy kimonos until they grow. Adidas has introduced a temporary row of stitching inside the sleeves and at the hem of the pants to make it possible to enlarge the kimono as the child grows. The model is available for Karate and Judo outfits.
