Teko to use merino for autumn sock line

14/01/2008

Colorado-based performance sock maker Teko is to use organic merino wool in its autumn sock lines. The wool is said to be soft, durable, itch-free and machine washable/dryable.

The wool will be sourced from a group of 20 farms in Argentina, all of which have been farming wool in accordance with GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and/or IVN (International Association Natural Textile Industry) guidelines for many years. No mulesing, pesticides, fertilisers, herbicides, vaccinations or chemical drenches are used on these farms and water conservation methods are used.

Teko's organic wool bears the EcoMerino trademark which means it is processed using chlorine-free, AOX shrink-resistant treatments. The company also uses recycled paper packaging, organic cotton and ecopoly recycled polyester.
