New eco yarn from Aquafil

07/05/2008
Italy-based Aquafil's Environmental Research Team has developed Econyl70, a recycled polyamide yarn manufactured from a polymer containing at least 70% post-industrial waste. The yarn is available in the standard count dtex 1000/42f and in 10 different colours.

Wear resistance and top colour performance make Econyl70 suitable for heavy contract applications. The post-industrial waste used to produce the yarn comes both from internal (production waste) and various external sources (carpet manufacturers).

The company is also making changes to its supply chain  in order to reduce its global environmental impact. This will involve investing in research and development, developing more eco-friendly products and introducing sustainability reports.
