It will also implement a 'Development and Growth of Technical Textiles' scheme as part of the 11^th five-year plan at an estimated cost of Rs440 million ($10.3 million). Four technical textile centres of excellence, such as Meditech, Geotech, Agritech and Buildtech, will be set up under the scheme.

The Government intends to establish a development council for technical textiles in order to identify industry problems and to suggest improvements. It believes the technical textiles sector could be worth $127 billion by 2010.
