Big brands launch special edition gear for Project Blue

09/07/2008

Six major outdoor brands have joined the Project Blue initiative, set up to support ocean and beach protection.

These brands – Billabong, Dakine, Electric, Nixon, Reef and O'Neill – will sell products under the Project Blue umbrella and a portion of the proceeds will go toward the Surfrider Foundation. The brands have collaborated to create a special edition, co-branded line for men and women.

Highlights include
Billabong’s Sonic (men’s) and Planet (women’s) board shorts, both made entirely from recycled textiles and plastic soda bottles; Dakine’s Interval (men’s) and Channel (women’s) backpacks, which incorporate seam-sealed wetsuit pockets and insulated cooler pockets; Electric’s EC-DC XL (men’s) and K.O. (women’s) polarised sunglasses; Nixon’s Lodown digital watch, pre-programmed with 200 beach tide charts in addition to a 100-metre waterproof casing; O'Neill’s Shoreline sweatshirt (men’s) and organic cotton t-shirts for both men and women; and Reef’s special colourways of its award-winning Mick Fanning sandal (men’s)  with a bottle opener in the sole) and the Stash sandal (women’s) featuring a storage compartment in the heel for keys or money.
