Santoni unveils new knitting machines for China

18/09/2008

Italian knitting machine producer Santoni has launched a new range of low-cost knitting machines aimed specifically at the Chinese market. These machines combine European technology with local production processes.

Its new CHN12, now installed at the company’s new
Shanghai facility, offers higher productivity and more options for producing jacquard fabrics. The basic model on display at ITMA Asia + CITME had 12 feeds, compared with eight feeds offered by many of its competitors. The price is partly reduced by not including a dial and, because the manufacturing base is in China, clients do not have to pay import taxes. A notable feature of the CHN12 is the inclusion of a saw and a knife for simpler yarn cutting and added cams for tuck and miss stitches.

The model on display was a 14 inch diameter knitting in 28G and the company also presented a prototype of its latest Vignoni circular knitting technology and a Panda SJ3.0 model consisting of a Vignoni knitting head on a Chinese built frame. The SJ3.0 can be equipped with four cam tracks with a single cambox per feeder with exchangeable cams. Optional extras include elastomeric feeders and a fabric scanner.
