Barça apparel collection to aid refugees

FC Barcelona and the UN high commission for refugees (UNHCR) agency have launched a new fund-raising campaign aimed at bringing sports, education and life skills to refugee youngsters around the world.
The campaign was developed with Nike, a major corporate partner of UNHCR and a sponsor of FC Barcelona. Money raised through the sale of a special range of clothing merchandise will be used to help refugees under UNHCR's ninemillion.org campaign.
"The corporate social responsibility of the club is something that involves all of us and I feel proud to see how FC Barcelona is positioned as a pioneer in supporting humanitarian causes," the club's chairman, Joan Laporta, at a launch ceremony in Barcelona on December 4.
The goods on offer include hoodies, T-shirts and caps, some of which were modelled by star players from the club's football, basketball and handball teams at the launch event.
The new apparel collection will be available from Nike outlets in cities across the world.
