Work therapy serves as a tool for people with challenges such as mental disabilities and offers ways to reintegrate into society and working life.
The company works with a sewing workshop and is planning to expand the concept to its main factory.
Johannes Skowron of Re-Athlete said: “We see high demand in Germany for inclusion and integration. That’s why we want to hire people who otherwise find it difficult to find employment in the job market. We are talking about people with mental disabilities or refugees who need to be integrated in a sustainable way.
“From the beginning, we determined that we can only work in a sustainable manner as long as we operate both ecologically and socially. Therefore, we decided to use Econyl regenerated yarn in connection with production in Germany.
“We want to establish a transparent manufacturing process that allows us to understand which labour standards, safety measures, and wages are being complied with. Therefore, we could not imagine outsourcing our production in a country with the standards of the fast fashion industry.”
