The organisers of the ispo event in Munich, which next takes place from January 29-February 1, have announced the winners of the 2012 ispo Awards.

In the Outdoor segment, the winner for apparel was Canadian outdoor brand Arc’teryx for its Alpha SV jacket, a lightweight and durable jacket that features the new N80p-X Gore-Tex face material. The jury said the jacket demonstrated a high degree of breathability and water protection.

Another jacket, the 3F, developed by Sympatex, picked up the award for style in the Outdoor category. The three Fs in the product's name stand for function, fashion and femininity.

Action is a separate segment in the ispo Awards, and here the top prize in the apparel category went to Haglofs for its Vassi jacket, developed in cooperation with professional athletes and offering protection against the elements
as well as a range of mobility.

Also in this segment, the Taos 28 PRO backpack for freeriders won the accessory award for Salewa, with the jury highlighting form, function and intelligent design throughout, and pouring particular praise on the carry strap system.

In the Performance segment, awards went to the Hooded Effusion running jacket by Mountain Hardwear and Montrail for apparel, and to Bavarian company Starringer for its Freeheel Running Pad ultralight running shoe in the footwear category.

There was an apparel award in the Eco Responsibility segment too, with Puya the winner this time for a jacket it has also called Puya. A fluoride-free manufacturing process for long-term water resistance, an 84% energy saving thanks to using recycled materials and a 72% reduction in carbon emissions were among the qualities that impressed the jury.

Winners receive their awards at a special celebration on January 30.
