Haglöfs sets out sustainability aims for footwear
Swedish outdoor brand Haglöfs is increasing its commitment to sustainable production by transitioning its footwear to its Take Care system – an initiative it launched for apparel last year.
For shoes in its spring/summer 2016 collection to carry the labelling, it must either be made of ‘sustainable leather’ or have at least 70% of the upper made of a bluesign approved or recycled material, with the midsole and/or outsole containing either bio-based or recycled material.
The company has recently joined multi-stakeholder body the Leather Working Group and classes sustainable leather as material sourced from a gold-rated tannery.
It has started to transition to exclusively sourcing sustainable leather from gold rated tanneries.
Earlier this year, Haglöfs made several appointments under new CEO Peter Fabrin (pictured) to sharpen customer focus and increase brand awareness.
“We are working hard and doing many effective things that will make a difference for our customers and consumers and for Haglöfs as a company,” said Mr Fabrin.
