Mannequins reflect the size and shape of real consumers

Soft inserts in the chest, abdomen, hips and buttocks are the main features of the new equipment, developed after the company carried out its most recent SizeGERMANY survey.
Takko Fashion, a major fashion retail chain, based in North Rhine-Westphalia and with more than 1,200 stores across Europe, is one of the companies to have invested in the technology so far. According to Michaela Beck, who is responsible for design in Takko’s quality assurance division, the accuracy with which the mannequins reflect the dimensions of consumers today makes it easier for her company to design apparel that will fit well. She said recently: “This means we can ensure as early as the product development stage that apparel in a specific size will actually fit our customers later.”
The new fashion mannequins are based on 3D avatars that are in turn created on the basis of the results of the SizeGERMANY survey. They are available either as full-body, torso or lower body, with optional rotating arms and with a height-adjustable metal stand or head.
