OutDry develops new backpack application of its technology

05/02/2013
Waterproof-breathable technology provider OutDry has announced a new application for backpacks to add to applications for its patented construction process in footwear and gloves. New waterproof backpacks that employ OutDry will be available to consumers in spring 2014.

OutDry has earned praise for its 3D one-piece waterproof construction of footwear and gloves while providing consumers with alternatives to the bootie and bladder construction methods. Colombia Sportswear acquired OutDry from its Italian founders in 2010.

“Until now, available solutions to make backpacks waterproof compromised lightness and functionality. OutDry’s 3D lamination constuction seals the fabric and the seams in a single step, making the pack absolutely waterproof without affecting weight, functionality and style. Your most important items are kept safe and dry with OutDry, and we’re poised to deliver our proven waterproof solutions to the pack category,” said co-founder Luca Morlacchi at the time of the announcement.

Two models in Mountain Hardwear’s spring 2014 backpack collection, the BMG 105 and the South Col 70 will be among the first to use OutDry.
