Under Armour develops ‘innovative’ mouthguard

13/06/2013
US sportswear brand Under Armour has launched a mouthguard which it claims uses “the most significant material innovation in the industry in the last 50 years”.

The ArmourFit line of custom mouthguards is made for all contact sports, including American football, ice-hockey, lacrosse and rugby, and is microwaveable, boilable, refittable and chew resistant.

Offered in collaboration with licensee Bite Tech, athletes wearing the mouthguard are able to talk easily, enabling better communication, said the company. The refittable feature allows for the shape to be altered for braces adjustment, for example.

“Safety concerns are understandably a major issue in contact sports," said Jeff Padovan, CEO of Bite Tech. "Under Armour and Bite Tech are providing the highest levels of innovation and materials to offer products that are superior in design, protection, fit and durability.”
