10/09/2013
Inspection and verification service SGS has established a textile testing laboratory in Madagascar, describing the island as an important regional textile and garment manufacturing hub. The new 160 square-metre facility will offer physical testing and a broad range of other services for local apparel and textile manufacturers who want to comply with international regulations and requirements.

Quality inspection, compliance audits, factory assessment and loading supervision will all form part of the offering.

Pascal Bezençon, managing director of SGS Madagascar, said at the launch of the new site: “With the establishment of the textile laboratory, the Madagascar textile industry benefits from the increase support from the local technical expertise, shortening of testing turnaround time and reduction of cost. This will increase the confidence of international buyers.”
