Specialist textile finishes provider Sympatex has opened a new subsidiary Seoul, South Korea.

Its success in the Korean market is being boosted, the company said, by a partnership with sports, outdoor and workwear brand Trespass.

Sympatex has explained that it expects an increase in orders from a campaign Trespass is involved in to sell a range of functional jackets on a Korean home shopping channel, CJO. The jackets have a 100% recyclable “guaranteed green” membrane from Sympatex.

Michael Kamm, chief executive of Sympatex, said on announcing the development that the outdoor market in South Korea is growing strongly, as is the desire among consumers there to have sustainably produced garments. He said this offered Sympatex “great potential”.

Mr Kamm continued: “By opening a branch, we can extend our activities in this important market. We [can be] more flexible, and we can adapt to the individual needs of our Korean customers even better.”
