North American brands urge resolution to unrest in Cambodia

It calls for stakeholders to develop a regular wage review mechanism to “promote both the short and long-term health and stability of the Cambodian garment and footwear industries”.
The American Apparel & Footwear Association, the Canadian Apparel Federation, the National Retail Federation, the Retail Council of Canada, the Retail Industry Leaders Association and the US Fashion Industry Association said in the letter, which can be read here: “Our industry is committed to ensuring that all the products that they produce, source and sell are manufactured under lawful and humane conditions. As part of this commitment, we are committed to promoting the safety and security of workers in our supply chains.”
The industry has been affected by strikes over wages in recent months, with fatalities reported earlier this month.
