Asia Outdoor organisers expect 600+ exhibitors

The outdoor market in China is poised to “return to normal” following problems caused in recent years by very rapid growth and then over-supply and “predatory pricing”, according to Messe Friedrichshafen, the organiser of the Asia Outdoor exhibition.

In the build-up to the ninth Asia Outdoor event, which takes place in Nanjing from July 23-26, the organisers said China’s outdoor market “is showing clear signs of recovery”.

In 2012 and 2013 the market looked “difficult”, they said, but the situation in 2014 is considerably better. As a result, they expect more than 600 exhibitors at this summer’s Asia Outdoor exhibition, keeping exhibitor numbers steady with 2013 and, possibly, registering a small increase.

Major brands who will be exhibiting there for the first time include companies such as Gore-Tex, Mountain Hardware, Asics, Columbia, Salomon, Suunto and Odlo. A new Running Village will be a prominent feature at the 2014 event.

The Chinese outdoor market is the third largest in the industry, following the US and Europe, they continued, saying they would release detailed figures for the Chinese market at the 2014 Outdoor exhbition in Friedrichshafen (July 10-13).
