Sports, outdoor and fashion group Pentland has appointed Richard Newcombe as brand president of Lacoste Chaussures. Pentland has been the high-end French sports brand’s global footwear licensee since 1991.

This appointment is a promotion: Mr Newcombe has been vice-president in charge of global sales for the brand for the last two years.

Pentland chief executive, Andy Rubin, said on making the announcement that Pentland enjoyed a strong relationship with the Lacoste family for many years and is now building up similar connections with Devanlay, the company that bought out the Lacoste family in November 2012.

“We feel we have a very strong leadership team, led by Richard, to really drive the Lacoste Chaussures global business forward,” Mr Rubin added.
