Mathilde Lacoste named creative director at ski brand

French ski brand Fusalp has appointed Mathilde Lacoste, former head of trends at sportswear group Lacoste, as artistic director.

Ms Lacoste had worked for 20 years at Lacoste and had been responsible for the colour range of the brand, including the polo shirts.

Lacoste has been beset by troubles in recent years, including a family quarrel which saw Sophie Lacoste-Dournel ousting father Michael as chairman. She subsequently sold her shares to a Swiss investor group, taking the iconic brand out of French ownership for the first time in its 80 year history.

At the start of 2014, Sophie and brother Philippe Lacoste bought a 77.6% share in Fusalp, and former Lacoste managing director Alexandre Fauvet bought an 8% stake.

Mathilde Lacoste is Phillipe’s wife.

Her first collection will be Après-Ski Winter 2015 which “combines sophisticated performance materials with wool, providing comfort and freedom of movement without compromising style”.
