Italians cement ties in India's textile sector
To help strengthen ties between the growing apparel industry in India and Italian textile machinery makers, ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) is opening a training centre in the Kolhapur district, after signing an agreement with the Textile & Engineering Institute of Ichalkaranji two years ago.
ACIMIT’s president, Raffaella Carabelli, and director, Federico Pellegata, will attend the inauguration ceremony in Maharashtra this month.
The training centre is part of the broader Machines Italia project financed by Italy’s Ministry for Economic Development.
Mr Carabelli said: “Our sector is laying the foundations for future business opportunities in a market that is already important for the majority of our machinery manufacturers.”
The Indian market ranks third in terms of exports for Italian textile machinery with €28 million worth sent there during the first quarter of 2014.
