Recreational Equipment Inc (REI) has promoted Annie Zipfel to senior vice-president of marketing and Julie Averill to vice-president of IT.

It has also hired Mark Stoddard from apparel retailer Catherines as vice-president of planning, inventory management and operations. Mr Stoddard has also served as Eddie Bauer’s vice president of planning and allocation.

REI CEO Jerry Stritzke said: “Each of these leaders will have a big impact on how we help our members and customers discover the outdoors.

“Annie has been leading us though a powerful brand refresh and Julie has played an instrumental role in shaping our technology strategy since joining the co-op in February. Mark brings more than 25 years of industry knowledge combined with a love for the outdoors, which makes him a natural fit for REI.”

REI is a $2 billion multichannel retail co-op headquartered outside of Seattle. It has 135 stores in 33 states and five million members.
