Southern Taiwan Textile Alliance takes 12 to Titas

Twelve member firms of the Southern Taiwan Textile Research Alliance are exhibiting their latest trends at Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS), among them a firm which uses minerals found in the Central Mountain Range in Taiwan to boost cooling.

The government-funded alliance was established in 2006 to share R&D and resources and encourage innovation.

The Industrial Technology Research Institute is showing Polydron polyester and HydroPore. Polydron fibres have smaller spaces in between which increases water repellency, making them suitable for down jackets or other outerwear. HydroPore fibres are porous and able to store moisture. The fibre walls are covered with micro-channels and micro-grooves that connect and transfer moisture, so the skin remains dry.

Caliphil Enterprise uses WINCOOL, a patented technology that creates cooling fibres with six minerals found on the Central Mountain Range in Taiwan. The fibre features low heat absorption but high dissipation and can be used for bedding.

Zhanyi Science and Technology is presenting fabrics with performance attributes including cooling, insect repellency, breathability,  UV protection and anti-static ability, while Everlight Chemical Industrial’s new range of dyes combine good colour fastness with low carbon emissions, says the company.
