Tri Ocean develops polypropylene filling material

17/10/2014

Taiwan’s Tri Ocean Textile has launched a synthetic filling material made of polypropylene, which it says is 30% lighter than goose down.

The company bills polypropylene as the ‘environmental’ synthetic as it uses less energy to manufacture than polyester and nylon, eventually biodegrades, and is naturally water repellent.

The group’s signature range of yarns is Dreamfel, used by brands such as adidas, Columbia and Helly Hansen, which transfers moisture away from the skin.

Tri Ocean was founded in 1968 and is one of the biggest polyprop manufacturers for the apparel sector. It also owns sportswear brand Genuine Solution.
