New Ortovox jacket combines “athletic” fabric lines
09/01/2015
It combines fabrics that Ortovox says are among its most athletic product lines: technical softshell material Merino Naturetec Light and lightweight wool insulation line Swisswool Light Tec.
Merino Naturetec Light has been used in areas where abrasion is likely, the brand explained in the build-up to ISPO, such as on the shoulder and back areas of the jacket, exactly where a backpack would be most likely to sit. A breathable softshell fabric, it also guarantees high elasticity, abrasion resistance and wind protection for the underarms, torso and in the hood, it continued.
For its part, Swisswool Light Tec on the front and the arms provide warmth. The wool fibres weigh 60 grammes per square-metre and are covered by breathable. windproof Pertex fabric.
A three-way adjustable storm hood, compatible with helmets, and front pockets that can be used for ventilation are other features of the Piz Palü.
